My latest hobby is sim racing online.  I began racing online in 2006 and have continued to race at least two nites a week since.  A buddy of mine from the local car club invited me to join him racing in a league that he was administrating.  I'd never done any computer gaming but it sounded like a blast so I joined in.  This sim allows you to create setups for each track, practice them in race conditions, qualify for pole position, and race just like the big boys!  You can also custom paint your rides and even make templates for the make/model of car you wish to compete in.  I helped develop a Pontiac GTO template and I personally created a C6 Corvette template.  Examples of my work on this page may be 'clicked' for a larger view.

That initial league, NSSR, grew rather quickly and at its peak we had 15 'real' racers each nite.  We completed a total of 13 seasons over the life of the league.  I learned quickly and managed to win 6 championships in the Cup division, amassing 52 race victories, 39 poles, 157 Top 5's, and 210 Top 10's in 248 starts.  I also took on the responsibility of Race Director for the Nationwide series that we started.  Unfortunately, differences in opinion over how the league should be run, squabbles over penalty assessments, driver defections and egos all contributed to the league's demise!

My buddy decided to start a new  league, Hardcore Sim Racing League(HSRL), and I agreed to stay with him!  I help administer and promote the league and, of course, continue to race.  We run two Cup events on Sunday evenings(following the real Cup schedule as close as possible) and a single Nationwide event on Wednesday nite.  The Cup races are open setups and are usually 20% of the full race length.  The Nationwide events use a fixed setup and run 25% of full race length.  We run road courses, short courses and super speedways.  The racing is very realistic and a really good way to unwind and have some fun racing without putting one's self in danger :)  I would encourage anyone that likes to sim race to try an online league...it is a great experience.  If you would care to check us out click on the league banner at the bottom of the page to be transported to our forum site...register, take a look around, and get on the track with us.  We don't bite, we race clean and are always looking for new drivers to share our hobby with.  Hopefully we will see ya on the track.........
